Annual John Lennon Birthday Concert Benefiting Guitars For Swaziland

For the 26th year in a row, Stephen Doster leads the #9 Orchestra in its annual John Lennon Birthday Concert on October 9 at Threadgill’s World Headquarters in Austin. This year, the concert is being promoted as “Imagine: The 26th Annual John Lennon Tribute” and is sponsored by Fender Guitars and Atticus Records with the proceeds benefiting Guitars for Swaziland.

Each October 9th for the past 26 years in Austin, Texas, musician-producer and Atticus Records recording artist, Stephen Doster has led The #9 Orchestra in the annual musical tribute celebrating the music and birthday of the late, great John Lennon. The #9 Orchestra is comprised of some of Austin’s finest journeyman musicians, including Andy Salmon, Tommy Taylor, Marie Nehring, Bruce Marton, Ben Cocke, Shana Norton and The Magical Mystery Horns.

This year’s “Imagine” concert will also feature several guest appearances from Gurf Morlix, Darin Murhpy, Johnny Goudie, Miles Zuniga, John Dee Graham, William Harries Graham, Seela, Jody Denberg, Rick Busby and Pablo Escalante.

Sponsored by Atticus Records and Fender, this year the “Imagine” concert with Stephen Doster & The #9 Orchestra benefits “Guitars for Swaziland,” a non profit organization dedicated to delivering guitars to underserved schools and children in Africa. This year’s concert will feature the auction of a brand new Fender acoustic guitar signed by many of the Texas guitar heroes that support Guitars For Swaziland, including Eric Johnson, Jimmy Vaughan, Charlie Sexton and many others.
